Question:
I’m not sure if it’s just America or not, but let’s just focus on that for now. No one can argue that from the beginning of the 20th century or earlier, this is how things go. Kids grow up faster and mature faster but somehow the generation ends up collectively stupider than the last. I will admit this about my generation so it’s not an issue of bias. Why does it happen? I know why technically but I’m looking for more of a philosophical answer.

Just a theory, and call me a pessimist but the physical maturation and mental deficiency of kids in the future will lead to more and more unplanned pregnancies leading to more everyday stress, pollution, lack of resources, less teachers and more students, before long humans go the way of the etch-a-sketch doodle you made when you were drunk that night and broke into that Toys R’ Us to steal your nephew an Xbox.
lastuntakenscreenname – you almost got me there, but as I said, I was refering to America. Of course we all know kids in Switzerland and Asia are smarter than ever… Like I care!

Question:
Here’s the low down: I teach high school English; school starts in a little over a week; my school district shoved 30 copies of “Mohicans” at me and said, “Here! Teach this to your 10th graders first quarter.” They gave me no other materials, no teacher’s edition, and no study guides. I’ve searched hard copies and online materials, googled, and checked www.webenglishteacher.com (a personal favorite)–I came up with almost nothing useful. I need help and FAST! Any advice from other teachers would be much appreciated.
Yes, I use sparknotes all the time, but that is not going to help me in this case. I’m looking for reproducible material to use in class and sparknotes can’t give me that. I want vocabulary, worksheets, study guides, discussion questions, project ideas, etc.
I already said above that I tried web english teacher and came up with nothing. The only thing on there I could use were a few viewing guides for the movie. I need supplements for the text. Please someone help!

I wrote this tone poem in 1998. It was in memory of the summer I spent as a fire lookout for the United States Forest Service. From my 100 foot tower I could see right down into Kings Canyon National Park. My last evening on duty I remembered how the cold wind blew the tower back & forth. The heater blew out and I froze there all alone till the morning sun came up. I loved that tower and all the sunsets and thunderstorms I got to enjoy up-close. The song is from our Black Irish Bands 17th Cd featuring Michael Martin Murphey. Band member Steve McArthur performed on piano while the rest of us backed him up. The CD “Into the Fire” can be found at CD BABY just type in black irish band. The song is featured along with many of my original oil paintings of wildland firefighters. I worked for the United States Forest Service for 14 years and spent the last few years doing art projects and posters for them. wwwtrainfire.com (my art site)
