Question:
Any clever ideas about teaching U. S. and world geography to first and second graders? I am already planning to create passports for each child and stamp them as we study diff. countries. We will be doing “Flat Stanley” (sending paper dolls to far away places and tracking their routes.) Looking for more ideas and for possible age-appropriate book titles.
** I am not really looking for craft ideas ~ those abound! I am looking for literature options and additional thematic structures, (such as the passport and Flat Stanley concept) to add to the curriculum.
Question:
I’m doing an essay about the impact of geography on history and for the Modern World section I want to state that geography had an effect on the current environmental “crisis”. My argument is that because of things like abundant natural resources, they were depleted, and because of a regions physical landscape, things like deforestation were caused because there was not enough arable land. I might also be able to make the claim that because the climate in certain areas is sunny and windy, it led to the usage of solar panels and wind energy. If you think I can support my claims at least slightly, then please post a comment, and if you have suggestions or anything. And just a another bit of information; I’m a freshman in high school but my history teacher grades like a college professor.
***NOTE***
Please don’t post something pointless like “global warming was caused by lazy Americans”. Sorry, but I could care less about your political ideologies, I want facts, as well as meaningful criticism.
Question:
I have been living in the United states for almost two years now and a lot of time s when I’m talking to an American about geography and the world they are pretty much clueless. They do know a lot about The United States but their knowledge about geography ends at the border. How is that??
What are they teaching you in school?

Question:
I plan on teaching grade 6. I am majoring in geography. Originally, I chose French as my minor, but am finding I don’t really like it. I plan on changing to a history minor, but am also VERY interested in psychology. If you were the hiring director for a school, would you hire someone to teach grade 6, who had psychology as their minor?
Question:
I plan to major in geography and I applied to university already. I was wondering what jobs are out there (I live in Ontario) for me? Should I get a Master’s? Will BA get me any jobs? Please help. And what would be a good minor to geogrphy major?
