Question:
I’ve heard a lot of criticism of advanced classes lately, more from those who are NOT in the programs. What I’d like to know is that, if your student is not in those classes, why would you try to shut them down?

As an AP student myself, I feel underappreciated by the parents who call my principal everyday to complain about APs and honors classes. As a result, our funding is being funneled to classes to ‘get studnets back on track’, and the advanced classes are left with nothing. We now require huge amounts of money from students, especially in science laboratory classes, because the teacher only has enough funding for one class, not 5.

My question is directed towards those parents whos students are not in any advanced classes, and it is this: What is the justification for your actions? Why would advanced classes bother you so much that you would have our resources relocated and the programs shut down? What do you have against these classes in the first place?

Question:
I was hoping to get started substitute teaching, but its taking an extended period of time to recieve my permit from the Commision on Teacher Credentialing. I was wondering if you need this permit in order to pursue sub positions in Catholic Schools?

I go through several strategies to teach and help children memorize the basic addition and subtraction facts, such as fact families, the “trick” with 9, number rainbows, the doubles, and more.

Question:
Ok, I was entered into a pre-trial diversion agreement for a joke I made about the president and VP, the bad kind. It was not said angrily, it was kind of a dare on a message board. The Secret Service told me I would be entered into this program, and only the FBI would be able to see this information, or something like that. Upon completion, the charges would be dropped.

I applied to some other corrections job, and apparently they could see an arrest record from the date I was entered into the pre-trial program, not when I was actually visited and all that. I was wondering if the state department of education will see that during the background check? I heard only law enforcement would be able to see that record from somewhere, obviously including corrections agencies.

Regardless, the whole affair was a dumb mistake, and the charges were dropped after the program ended. Will this prevent me from being employed as a substitute teacher? My record is cleaner than Snow White besides that.

Question:
I have an 89.8% for my first semester final grade in French 3c lass . After having a 94%+ for the whole year, I messed up on my final a little bit due to my original teacher having delivered her baby and our class being given a HORRIBLY Bad educational substitute who didn’t teach us ANYTHING. Anyway, the substitute gave me a B instead of a B+ or A-. Now that I am trying to calculate my overall grades to see if I made the bi-annual scholarship requirements, this stupid B that I do not deserve is the reason why I cannot get a scholarship this semester. On my teacher’s syllabus it says that a 89.8% is in the range of a B+/A- , and I 100% deserve an A- because our substitute teacher was crap, and I was getting A’s on ever regular test. So, should I persuade my sub/counseler to change my grade from a B+ to an A- primarily to regain my dignity and be able to ge ta scholarship which i desperately need?

Question:
My aide constantly is pulled to areas that are not class related (office clerical work, duties, other classses etc. She is upset and so am I after a child was hurt today. When expressing my concern about my aide being gone so much my principal told me I was spoiled and did not need a full time aide in Kindergarten. Spoiled- if I am spoiled then I would hate to think what unspoiled feels like.

Layoffs of 50 from Sylvania schools likely
By JIM SIELICKI BLADE STAFF WRITER The Sylvania City School District expects to drop 50 staff positions, including 31 teachers, to eliminate a projected $4.2 million deficit by June 30, 2011. Superintendent Brad Rieger told the Board of Education at a meeting at Southview High School last night that most reductions would be through retirements, resignations, and leaving vacancies unfilled.
