Question:
I want to teach English in Japan, but I am over 40. In an information booklet about JET that I got from the Asian Heritage festival that was held here recently, it said that generaly they are looking for people under 40.
Is there any chance of me getting a job teaching English in Japan?
If so, can you give me any websites or resources?

I’m not quite sure how the Japanese schoolyear goes, but if there is anyplace that would accept me, I would like to start teaching next school year.
These are some details which may or may not be helpful…
Age:40
Gender:Female
I am not a teacher, but I have a Bachelor’s degree(in history), and from what I’ve read it sounds like a Bachelore’s degree in any subject works…

Question:
Here’s the question:

“If you had unlimited resources, what would you do to make the world a better place, especially as it would benefit you personally? Remember money and manpower are no obstacle?”

I was thinking maybe donating money to school for one thing cuz i hate it when they take away cool field trips cuz they can’t pay for it. but i can’t see how i’d write 4 paragraphs with that. i have no idea of how to make the world a better place AND have it benefit me personally. i was gonna do something about world hunger but that doesn’t benefit me. if it helps: i like music, poetry (‘n writing poetry/lyrics), playing the violin, playing the bass, finding new bands on the internet, family guy, south park, comedy. Should i donate to one of those things? like maybe donate to new instruments to school or give them money to add on to the school/hire teachers, so they can add new, cooler classes. Donate an ipod to every one? lol computers for the school? help!
Caine P and Socolboy both gave awesome answers! i’d mark both as best answers but idk if u can do tht. i think i’m gonna write about both, if i can. if i cant, i mite write about the health care one, cuz then maybe i can donate to scientists who study the cure for cancer. plus everybody need health care. not everybody needs new classes, field trips, and brand new instruments to survive. thanx to the ppl tht answered!

Question:
I was wondering if anyone had any idea what would be the best resource for teaching english to a chinese speaker. She is from taiwan, and has a basic understanding of the english language. Where she lacks is in her writing, and in her sentence structure. She also does not wish to go through the ESL books any longer as she feels this is not much to her, she is beyond ESL books. So that is my challenge, and was wondering if anyone had any adequate resources in which i could provide her. Also does anyone have any other teaching ideas and strategies i could provide her to make english learning fun and enjoyable, and where she will get something out of it. I appreciate the help, thanks!
Rosetta stone is a good resource, but not really what i am looking for, and it is costly, so i want to stray from that. I am looking more at books and workbooks specifically.
