I graduated from Loyola with a BS degree in Biology and have been working. Now with small children at home I’d like to substitute teach. I don’t know what is required for an elementary education substitute teaching certificate in Lake County, IL. Does anyone have any suggestions and/or idea how long it would take or how expensive it would be to get started? Thank you.

I thought I wanted that but I have realize its not what I want I want to be a teacher. Can you become a certified teacher without having a degree in education or do I need to go back. People keep telling me I don’t need one I just need to take a test and become certified but I don’t know if I believe that. I need help on how I can become a certified teacher.
