Question:
He went over his syllabus the other day and told us we’d be talking about religions. He said he’s not picking on them, but he had a clip of it; as well as Scientology and others. Now I’m not sure if I’m just overreacting, but I think if you’re going to teach us what religious believe why not have an accurate, unbiased way of it?

Should I talk to him? Should I let him do it and just clarify to the class that it’s just poking fun of the LDS church or what?

Question:
I must’ve read this book in about 5th grade…it was probably 80-120 pages and I can only remember bits and pieces but basically it was about a class whose teacher disappears and is replaced by a string of substitutes, one is a guy and i recall he got hit in the head with a baseball…then this seemingly nice lady is the substitute and she assigns homework but doesn’t mind if no one does it, they have fun in class and goof off but then the students begin to realize she’s evil… at one point, she feeds them their pet iguana secretly, and she takes them to “Hershey Park” but it turns out to be the Hershey wildlife preserve, and she shoves one of the kids over a boat railing in NYC or something…does anyone remember this book at all?

Question:
She is the most wonderful person, a teacher, new auntie, and best friend. Her name is April. I live 500 miles away from her and need all the support I can get. I have a new baby and can’t get out much for support groups. She was moved from home hospice to a care facility today and is fading slowly but surely. I miss her already and can barely deal being this far away.

Please help suggest anything you think might help me and my family get through this time. I feel like I am caught between heaven and hell.

Also, if you have a younger (or older) sister–you might want to give her an extra big hug tonight.

Question:
I witnessed what could be a bad move on the part of a regular teacher at a high school where I frequently substitute teach. It involved a student who said that he received a deck of cards with dirty jokes on them from his psychology teacher (he named the teacher). I saw the student with the cards in his hands as he read dozens of jokes to other students before the beginning of class. I’m from an earlier generation (47 years old) and this made me a bit uncomfortable. I’m hoping that someone can help me determine if this teacher crossed the line and if I should report it. Or, am I just overreacting? HELP. I would greatly appreciate feedback from experienced teachers and/or administrators.
