Question:
I will be starting substitute teaching next school year and I was wondering if anyone has done that job and had any tips or suggestions, or could give me a basic rundown of a normal day. Also, I will be doing substitute librarian duties and secretary duties, as well as food service and grounds maintenence so that I can have more work.

I do not have a degree but I have 3 years of college in the field of education under my belt. Yes, the school hires subs without degrees.

Question:
I’m about to graduate with a BA in Performing Arts this summer. I would like to move to California, (hopefully San Francisco area) and substitute teach for a while.
What are the requirements? What tests, forms do I need to complete? How long do these steps take? What office do I need to contact?

Question:
I substitute teach at about 6 different schools. How should I list this as job experience on my teaching resume? Should I list each school individually? That will take up so much room, and I do the same thing (have the same job responsibilities) at each school, so it seems senseless to keep repeating that. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Question:
I’m a 29 year old graduate student majoring in education and pursuing my lifelong goal of a career in teaching. For the past year, I have been working a menial dead-end job ob for an employment agency as a document scanner, after a long period of unemployment. Since day one I have been extremely unhappy working here.

I was set to begin student-teaching but because of my job, I was forced to put it on hold until I learned that if I were to get a substitute teacher license and work a certain number of days it would fulfill my student-teaching requirement, as well as get paid for doing it. It would also allow me to quit my job.
None of this means anything to my father who warned me not to quit my job and to do whatever it takes to keep this job, even if it meant putting school on hold and waiting until I got laid off again to finish my degree. He is under the impression that substitute teaching is not a real job but instead some kind of paid internship program that was set up by the school to fulfill a teaching requirement, despite the fact that I would be make double what I make at my current job. I feel that trying to juggle subbing and this job would not only be difficult for me but also unfair to my employer. He has gone on to hint that if I were to quit my job he would cut me out of the family.
