Question:
I substitute teach at ONE school district, but THREE diff. schools within that district. Do I put down just the district or do I put each school sep. on my resume?? (If each school is in a diff town, do I just put the general big city its in??)

Also, do I put student student teaching on my resume, since I just finished that in January??

Question:
I have an interview tomorrow for a substitute teaching job and I was planning on wearing tan khakis and a tucked in dress shirt with no tie. Is this appropriate or should I be more formal and go with the tie. I don’t want to over dress and I figure since teaching jobs are probably business casual I would be dressed just fine. What are your opinions?

Question:
I am a resident substitute teacher for a middle school, which means I report to the middle school everyday for an assignment unless told otherwise. I’m guaranteed a job everyday, basically. On Thursday at 11:00 am the school district calls and offers me a long term position for four months at an elementary school for a resource class, where the students will be pulled from their general class and come to me for 30 minutes out of the day. I asked if they’re were lesson plans and a full time teacher’s aide and they said yes, it’s really easy. So I said yes. I assumed they would notify my middle school and they didn’t! I called to let them know and they were very upset that I took the job. I told them I was considered a last resort since not many subs have a Special Needs certificate. Anyways, I go to the elem. school and find out that they are somewhat strict and they’re are no lesson plans and the teacher hasn’t even met with her students yet and the aid is a long term sub too!
And that my aid isn’t guaranteed a job with me, she may leave at any time. I show up on Friday and discover all this along with the district saying that I’m to get a brand new, permanent aide on Monday! I called the district to confirm, and they said they aren’t sure about that. I said I don’t have time to train a new aide when I don’t even know what I’m supposed to train them in. This really frustrated me and made me think twice about accepting this. They’re are tons more problems to this job as well. My question is should I on Monday tell them I don’t want it now and have them look for someone else and try to get my resident sub status back at the middle school or should I just stick it out? All answers are appreciated. Thanks!
There’s another resource teacher that will be doing all the IEP’s. Mine and hers! I feel bad for her. And she has more kids then me. So it easy, but not if I have to deal with a headache of a Vice Principal and Principal. I just finished a three month 7-8th grade resource class that I did in April thru the end of June. And got a one week break, and then they threw me on this one. I know it will be simple, but I’m afraid of the headache I’ll get from the administrators and the other teachers. I will also be getting at-risk kids in August while my C track kids leave.
This is for ateachmom. I’ve long term subbed four times now for this district. This was my fourth assignment and it was handled very unprofessionally. My last long term assignment was for a 7th-8th grade Language Arts Resource class and I created all the lesson plans for that. I know what it entails because I’ve done it already. In this new assignment I was told the lesson plans were all done, and YES you can create a daily lesson plan for four months, it’s been done by me and others as well. I don’t know what district you’re in, but ours requires it. I didn’t want to create lesson plans again. I was done with that. They said it was a piece of cake assignment, even if it was, my resident sub position was more important to me that this long term assignment. Thanks for your concern though.

Question:
I really like subbing when I am teaching what I am going to teach full time. I enjoy teaching and I’m currently getting my degree (one year left) to be a full time teacher. I can hardly wait to be a FULL TIME TEACHER.

However, in many ways I’m tired of some of the things going on as being a substitute. Some of the staff I guess don’t really support sub teachers as professionals.

Here is what really gets me.I have another teacher tell me I’m not strict enough in front of the entire class!! A student asked me where he should go and I said, ask your last teacher since you are not on my role. The teacher basically embarrassed me in front on the entire class by saying, “you need to be more strict”. That’s fine to confront me alone.. I’m still learning and will always learn as being a teacher. However, that was unprofessional to do that in front of the class. They become rather rowdy after that comment.

I think I’m going to tutor instead of sub until student teaching!

Question:
I am currently in the process of applying for a substitute teaching certificate. The application has to be brought to the requesting Illinois Regional Superintendent’s office. Is the certificate then only valid in that region? Or can I just pay an additional $20 fee for another region (or do I have to apply at that second region separately)?

Question:
I want to get my substitute permit in Indiana. I’ve found a few things online but they all require you to have the superindendent of where you wish to apply fill out a portion of it and I’m not sure where I’m going to apply yet.

Question:
I got interviewed at a school district in California for the post of a substitute teacher. After the Director, Human Resources interviewed me I was told by her that as and when they get a fingerprint clearance for me ( usually 1 day according to her), I will receive phone call to attend a group orientation along with other prospective substitute teachers. Then she took me to the fingerprinting official in the same office. After finger printing me this official also told me ” we get the report in a day most of the time. After we get the report you will be called for a group orientation along with other prospective teachers”. Then I got fingerprinted and left the place.
My question is that do these people do the fingerprinting on all the applicants regardless the decision of hiring him or her or do they do it only for the people for whom they have a decision in their minds to hire?
Thanks.

Question:
I am getting my certification from the AZ department of Ed, but how do you actually start getting substitute jobs?

Question:
I’m in school getting my credential and getting petrified about actually teaching and only hear bad things about subbing, but I want to sub before I start actually teaching. I’m worried I will cry in class or throw up. I know I won’t, I’m just kidding, but I am scared of being traumatized.
I live in a low income area….I’m scared of the reality check. I have been observing though and I love the kids. I think I will start with middle school.

Question:
I was hoping to get started substitute teaching, but its taking an extended period of time to recieve my permit from the Commision on Teacher Credentialing. I was wondering if you need this permit in order to pursue sub positions in Catholic Schools?
